AsiaTrips gives the opporunity for our guests to offer their services to spend time at the The Living Land Company. They employ locals who would not otherwise find employment, people with low educational achievements and ethnic minorities from remote villages, where their salaries are about the only cash income. They also provide free training for 3rd year students from the Agricultural College of Luang Prabang. They promote and run pilot schemes of rice trials among the local farmers and in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of the District of Luang Prabang. They finance local farmers childrens schooling at the local S.O.S school. In Phong Van, where the farm is located, we help with improvements to the village, road sanitation and drainage. We help lobbying for a fresh water supply to Phong Van, where most of the villagers have no access to fresh water. However there are constant demands on them to do more and with more outside help we will be able to make a tangible difference to people’s lives.
