Take an exciting trip along the famous Silk Road in this 7-day adventure tour. Enjoy the local scenery, lush vegetation, and get a chance to mingle with indigenous tribes people. You will also enjoy a unique experience visiting ancient sites and temples.

Itinerary

Day 1: Mandalay – Pyin Oo Lwin

This morning, depart from Mandalay on a scenic two-hour drive to the former British hill station of Maymyo, now officially called Pyin Oo Lwin, where reminders of the colonial era remain, including brick and timber houses with British names. The afternoon is free at your leisure to explore on your own.

Overnight in Pyin Oo Lwin.

There will be a surcharge 14  per pax for evening sightseeing with Horse Cart. (minimum 2 pax).

Day 2: Pyin Oo Lwin – Kyauk Me (Train) (B, L, – )

We’ll depart at 0800 for the Pyin Oo Lwin train station where we’ll board the local train to Naung Pain Village. The journey takes around 5 hours passing through stunning scenery including the Gokhtiek Viaduct. A lunch box will be prepared and served along the way. Upon arrival in Kyauk Me, check in to your guesthouse and stretch your legs with a walk around the entire town in one hour. Kyauk Me is a trading town nestled amid the Shan hills.

Day 3: Kyauk Me – Trekking to Pan Hone (B, L ,D)

After breakfast, begin your 3 day trekking adventure. The first segment of this activity is a two hour trek to Kyu Shaw Village, home to the Pa Laung hill tribe. Rest your legs in Kyu Shaw, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and learning about the Pa Laung people. Continue1.5 hours to Kone Sar, then to Naung Thit, another one hour trek.

Enjoy the changing scenery as you hike. A final 1.5 hour walk take you to Pan Hone village, the overnight stop for today. Arrive in the late afternoon and take time to freshen up and enjoy dinner with your host family. Total 6 hours trekking for the day.

Day 4: Pan Hone – Trekking to Namp Man (B, L,D)

This morning, resume your trek with 1 hour uphill walk followed by flat roads to the village of Pan San. Then, descend to Kone Lone for a short break. From Kone Lone it’s a two hour trek to Pan Saing, first walking uphill for 1 hour before descending the second hour. You’ll cross through one more village (Pone Noite) on our way to Namp Man, taking 2.5 hours along flat lands. Namp Man is our final destination for today. Relax and freshen up before dinner. Total 5.5 hours of Trekking.

Day 5: Namp Man Trekking – Hsipaw (B, L, – )

Your last day of trekking begins with a one hour uphill walk through the jungle to Kalar Village, also known as Gawrakha . Pass through Man Aw on our way to Kyauk Me Gyi Village, a 2.5 hour walk along mostly flat terrain. From here we descend the last half hour to Kyuak Me. Upon arriving in Kyauk Me, transfer by car to Hsipaw (approximately 2 hours). Hsipaw, also known as Thibaw, serves as the region’s main market town.

This afternoon is free to relax or take a stroll around town.

Day 6: Hsipaw – River trip – Hsipaw (B, L, – )

Wake up early this morning for a tour of ‘candlelight market’ call such because the market usually is open from 3.30 until around 6 A.M. and is illuminated by candlelight. The market is filled with people from the nearby villages, including Shan and Palaung hilltribes, who gather to trade their wares and produce. Try a bowl of local Shan noodles for breakfast before returning to the hotel.

After breakfast, set off for a boat journey along the Dokehtawaddy River. Cruise aboard a longtail boat upstream to a fruit plantation where you’ll disembark for a walk through the plantation, village and then visit a 150-year old monastery. After visiting the monastery, return to the boat and continue to the confluence of the Dokehtawaddy River to enjoy a swimming break.

Continue to a hill tribe village where lunch will be served. Take a stroll around the village to meet with the locals and learn more about their culture, traditions and lifestyles. Mid afternoon, return by boat to Hsipaw and walk to your hotel. Wander around the town and enjoy the sunset views over the river from one of the many hilltop temples.

Day 7: Hsipaw – Mandalay – Departure (B, – , )

This morning after breakfast at the hotel, depart for the 7 hour drive back to Mandalay. A stop will be made along the way for lunch. Upon reaching Mandalay you will be dropped at your hotel of choice.
