This exciting 5-day journey will bring you to Yangon’s ancient and colonial sites as well as to famous landmarks and structures. You will also have a chance to get into the history of one the country’s oldest cities in Bagan while enjoying an encounter with local folks and craftsmen. You will also get a chance to visit ancient Buddha sites and villages along Inle Lake. You may also choose among several optional tours to further liven up your adventure.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Yangon

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your guide who will accompany you as you transfer to the hotel. After freshening up, set off for a tour of Yangon’s highlights. As a city relatively uninfluenced by the outside world, Yangon has maintained its rich colonial and spiritual heritage and is one of the most fascinating cities in Southeast Asia.(For its freedom of Belief in Religions those exist with respect to each other like Htayrawada Buddhist Temples and Mahayana Buddhist Temples, Churches like Baptist and Catholic , Shia Muslim Moresque and Sunni Moresque as well as Jewish Synagogue). Explore the city centre and its fabulous mix of architecture and sites. Beginning at the historic post office and walk to Sule Paya in the middle of downtown, passing by Strand Hotel, Mahabandoola Garden and Independence Monument along the way. The streets are lined with historical buildings many of which have a faded colonial charm not seen elsewhere in Asia. Visit Little India and Chinatown, bustling with lively restaurants, temples and markets. Browse the many stalls and shops of Bogyoke Market, Yangon’s best market for handicrafts and other goods. (Note: Market is closed on Mondays and public holidays). Sip authentic tea at a local tea shop and relax as you observe Burmese life. Next, you will travel to Kandawgyi Park where you can enjoy the Green and the Lake in its natural beauty.Visit the glittering Karaweik barge, a replica of the royal barge, and take a stroll around the lake with views of Shwedagon in the background. You will continue to Shwedagon Pagoda. Said to enshrine strands of Buddha’s hair and other holy relics, this is the most revered Buddhist temple. Although the origins of the pagoda are unclear, the local legend claims that the original structure was built 2600 years ago then renovated several times until taking its current shape in the 15th century. The 8-sided central stupa is 99 meters tall and gilded with gold leaf and is surrounded by 64 smaller stupas. As you marvel at the breathtaking structures and holy ambiance, your guide will share with you the customs and traditions of Buddhism. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2: Yangon – Bagan (B, – , – )

After an early breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Yangon’s Mingaladon Airport for the flight to Bagan ,An Ancient Capital in 11th to 13th Century and one of the richest archeological sites in Asia. Today’s excursion visits a range of sites, providing a great overview of Bagan’s history, culture and local lifestyles.Your day’s journey begins with a visit to Thagyar Pone Temple, a temple with spectacular views of the surrounding plains and Ananda Temple, one of the most revered temples in Bagan. Afterwards, you will explore Myinkaba Village by walking around to experience the local lifestyle and Gubyaukgyi Temple. Marvel at its beautiful mural paintings on the interior walls and well-preserved plaster carvings on the exterior. Nearby is Manuha Temple donated by the captured King Manuha and its Prison Nan Paya Temple, smaller temples with unique Buddha statues and stone work. After a spiritual morning, you will visit  workshops producing Bagan’s most famous product: lacquer ware. Watch as the skilled craftsmen use techniques passed down through generations as they create beautiful items.Take a break for lunch and return to your hotel for a short rest, escaping the heat of the midday sun. This afternoon, board a private river boat and set off along the Irrawaddy River which is considered to be the life stream of Myanmar, You will cruise upriver toward Kyauk Gu U Min. Throughout your cruise you will witness everyday Burmese life on the water: fishermen, local ferry boats, riverside villages and views of the Bagan temples. You’ll go ashore at Sae Lan village and explore a typical riverside village along the Irrawaddy. The friendly people work as farmers and fishermen, living a simple but happy life. Continue by boat to Kyauk Gu U Min, spectacular a cave temple on the banks of the Irrawaddy, with notable sandstone carvings and a massive Buddha image. After your exploration of Kyauk Gu U Min, you’ll return to the boat for a relaxing return cruise to Bagan (around 1 hour). Transfer back to your hotel upon reaching Bagan. Overnight in Bagan.

Day 3: Bagan – Heho – Inle Lake (B, -, – )

After breakfast, transfer to Nyaung Oo Airport for a flight to Heho. From Heho, enjoy a scenic drive through the region stopping to along the way to gain a deeper understanding of the culture. You will explore at the wooden Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery and marvel at the beautiful carvings and collection of Buddha images. Your next stop takes you on a trishaw tour around Nyaung Shwe, down quiet streets, past nunneries, monasteries and local houses. Visit the famed ‘tomato’ house where the freshly picked produce is sorted and distribute. This afternoon, board a private boat on Inle Lake. As you cross the lake, you will discover the stilted houses and observe the leg-rowing fishermen. Marvel at the floating gardens and visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the lake’s main sanctuary, which contains five sacred Buddha images covered in gold leaf that makes disappear the original shape of the Images and become look like a lump of mushroom. Meet the local craftsmen of Inle Lake. You will explore the weaving village of Inpawkhone and tour a cheroot factory, where Burmese cigars are rolled by hand. If time permits, you may enjoy a short walk through one of the lakeside villages. Overnight at the Inle Lake.

Day 4: Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon (B, – , – )

After breakfast, visit the lake’s morning market. This roving market rotates around the village every five days so as to be accessible to the local Inthar people and surrounding hill tribes who come to sell and trade their wares. (Note: market is daily, except on dark moon and full moon days). After lunchbreak, continue by boat to the Pa-Oh village, Indein, renowned for its stupa-covered hill at Alaung Sitthou. Trek around Indein, visiting a local school and making your way to the top of Alaung Sitthou. Stroll amid the weather worn stupas and enjoy magnificent views of the lake below. This afternoon, transfer to Heho Airport for the flight to Yangon. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 5: Depart Yangon (B, – , – )

After breakfast at hotel, free at leisure till transfer. You will be transfered to the airport for your flight. According to your wish, you can join the following option tour (note: supplemental charge will be applied).

Option tour: Art Gallery Tour: Explore the history of Burmese art with a guided tour of Yangon’s art scene. Visit local galleries displaying paintings, sculptures and photographs from famous the countries prominent artists. Transfer to the Yangon airport in time for your departure flight.

(Your hotel room is available until 12:00. If you are departing later, you can ask the hotel to keep the  luggages. A late check-out is possible upon availability with some charge.)
