Itinerary

Day 1: Phnom Penh to Kampot (—)

Your first day in Cambodia will start with a three-hour transfer from Phnom Penh to Kampot. This riverside town has retained its French colonial magnificence through its architecture. You will enjoy the mix of scenic views and old-town atmosphere as you go through a walking tour around town.

As it is located by the sea, you will spend your time with a sunset cruise. Enjoy your first Cambodian dinner in one of the several local restaurants and cap the night with a drink or two on the delightful bars along the riverside. Savor the local dishes at the venue of your choosing before you call it a day in your Kampot hotel. Of course, don’t forget to take the tab on your meal and drinks.

Day 2: Kampot (B,L)

Before you start your day, enjoy a mouth-watering treat of breakfast at your hotel. Your journey on your second day will start with a drive to Bokor National Park. This once-abandoned French hill station sits on 1581 km² of protected land. It is home to endemic plants and animals and is mostly covered by lush, green forest. Experience the jungle sounds of insect and bird calls in a 7-km trek to Popokvil Waterfalls where you will have your picnic lunch.

In the early afternoon, you will be travelling back to Kampot and spend the rest of the day at leisure in this quaint little town. Optional and at own cost: You may also want to enjoy a relaxing “seeing hands” massage by an experienced blind masseur. Spend the second day of your tour at Kampot.

Day 3: Kampot to Kep (B)

You may choose to wake up early before the break of dawn and take a 10-minute walk to the fish market where you will see the local fishermen unload their catch of the day. This optional side-trip is at no cost to you, but you will definitely have a feel of the local seafood trade as various products of the sea are sorted and carted away by middlemen.

After a nourishing morning meal, you will see more of the astonishing Kampot Province as you travel the road to Kep. Along the way, you will make a short stop at a pepper farm. Kampot’s first-rate pepper was once a prime commodity in the 1960s as an essential ingredient in many French chefs’ cuisines. Your travel will be further spiced with a stopover to a cave with a Buddha statue, nearby you can enjoy a good view over the province.

You will arrive in Kep in time for your lunch. Kep was a thriving beach resort in the 60s. After so many years, it is now again rising to its former splendor. You will find in this town a happy mix of calm beach, traces of the past, and the beauty of the nearby National Park.

After you have checked in at your resort, you can leisurely spend the whole afternoon on your own discovering the beauty of Kep. You can choose to just chill out and unwind or you can give the town’s famous crabs with Kampot pepper a try at the crab market. You can retire to your resort at your leisure and get ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 4: Kep (B,L)

Prepare yourself for a day at the beach after breakfast at the resort. You will take a 25-minute boat ride to the stunning island of Koh Tonsai where you can saunter in the island’s tropical waters. You can also explore the island by foot in a very relaxing manner. Be sure to be back by lunch time to savor a great seafood barbeque treat.

By mid-afternoon, you will travel back to Kep and spend the remainder of the day at your own accord and spend the night at Kep.

Day 5: Kep to Departure (B)

Enjoy your last breakfast in Kep as you prepare for your three-hour trip back to Phnom Penh. Depending on your travel plans, you can proceed also to another South Coast Cambodian destination from Kep or travel your way to neighboring Vietnam.
